A new love story is coming to the Kansas City Chiefs — and we’re not talking about Taylor Swift It is Travis Kelce.
On Tuesday, Striking media and the Kansas City Chiefs announced they are teaming up on a new holiday film set on a football field called Holiday Touchdown: A Boss Love Story. In collaboration with Skydance Sports, Hallmark and the Kansas City Chief’s next TV project – which is set to begin production in July and air during Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas – will pay full tribute to the Chiefs, as it will only be filmed in Kansas City, including on the field at Arrowhead Stadium, which has never been featured in a Hallmark movie before.
Tyler Hynes, Hunter King and Ed Begley Jr. will star in the project, with King playing Alana Higman, who is a finalist with her family in the team’s “Fan of the Year” contest. Derrick (Hynes), who is the director of fan engagement, is tasked with evaluating the three finalists and sparks fly as he spends time with Alana. However, conflict arises when a lucky vintage Chiefs winter hat belonging to his grandfather (Begley Jr.) goes missing. “Alana begins to doubt everything she believed about fate, fate, and even questions her future with Derrick—unless a little Christmas magic can throw a Hail Mary,” reads the film’s synopsis.
“We are honored to partner with Hallmark on a project as unique as this,” Chiefs president Mark Donovan said in a statement. “As a club, we are proud to explore new ways to grow our brand as well as connect with new audiences. This partnership brings together two passionate fan bases and gives us the opportunity to showcase the energy and tradition of Chiefs Kingdom in one of the most watched programs on the channels during the holiday season.”
The film will arrive just in time for the first anniversary of the team’s most famous couple in recent times – Kelce and Swift – who went public with their romance at a Chiefs game in September 2023. The world-famous singer has become a major figure in the games, frequently participating in the final season with some of her famous friends, as well as members of Kelce’s family.
Kelce recently recalled the first time she attended one of his games during an appearance on Working with the boys podcast.
“The first game she attended against the Bears… I thought… ‘OK, so I could probably set everything up for you.’ And she just walked in the front door,” he shared on the podcast. “There’s no way to talk to security, make sure it gets to her… She said, ‘I just want to be around family and friends and experience this with everyone’… She got a lot of points for that. it was like, ‘Damn, she’s crazy, man, she wants to be a part of this. She wants to support me and do things like that.’ I thought, man, she really won me over with that.”
