At least 24 Palestinians were killed in three separate Israeli airstrikes in Gazaas tanks advanced deeper into Rafah to the south.
Two of the attacks hit two schools in Gaza City, killing at least 14 people. Another attack on a residence in the Sati (Praia) camp, one of eight historic refugee camps in the Gaza Strip, claimed the lives of another 10 people.
The residence hit in Shati belonged to the family of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniya, who lives in Qatar. One of his sisters and other relatives were killed, family and medical sources said.
In April, Haniya himself stated that around 60 members of his family have been killed so far since the war began on October 7, 2023.
