The efforts of firefighters, ground and air resources continued to this day since from noon they face dozens fires.
In total, from yesterday afternoon at 6pm until today at 6pm there were 55 agroforestry fires, of which 46 were attended to immediately, in its initial phase, while firefighters are still attending to nine 9.
The fire burns uncontrollably in Platanitis Nafpaktia
The forest fire at Platanitis of Nafpaktia in Etoloakarnania quickly reached uncontrollable proportions due to strong winds.
Efforts are being made to extinguish it 80 firefighters with 3 groups of forest commands and 26 vehicles, while 10 aircraft and 3 helicopters, one of which is coordination, periodically drop water from the air.
All forces are managed by the Mobile Operations Center “OLYMPOS”.
112 called twice – 3 villages evacuated
At 16:11 a 112 message was issued for the evacuation of residents from the Ano Platanitis area to Nafpaktos, and at 16:22 a second 112 message was issued to evacuate the Molykrio and Frageika areas to Antirrio.

• The fire that broke out in Caristo. 38 firefighters operate with a group of hikers and 14 vehicles, while 4 aircraft and a helicopter operate.
• The fire in Nea Artaki Evia is limited. At 3:37 pm, 112 was issued to divert from Akti Valeri to Nea Artaki. 61 firefighters, 2 groups of walkers and 20 vehicles were working, while 3 planes and 2 helicopters were releasing water.
• At the Markopoulos the worst was avoided. 46 firefighters with 3 teams from mobile divisions and 10 vehicles, as well as 3 aerial vehicles managed to fight a very dangerous fire in just 15 minutes.
• The fire in Paliabello of Vonitsa is limited. The extinguishing work continues with 15 firefighters with 6 vehicles, while 2 aircraft attempted.
• The fire in Poligyro, Halkidiki is under control and 22 firefighters with 9 vehicles are working, while a helicopter also dropped water.
Very high fire risk also on Wednesday
The General Secretariat for Civil Protection, of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection (civilprotection.gov.gr), also issued an alert for a very high risk of fire on Wednesday, June 26.
Specifically, in accordance with the relevant Forecast mapCategory 4 will include the following areas of the country:
- Attica Region
- Central Greek Region (Evia)
- Crete region
- North Aegean Region (Lesvos region, Chios region, Samos region, Ikaria region).
