Sara Becker — a reality TV star who appeared on MTV’s “The Actual World” — died by suicide… TMZ took notice.
A member of Becker’s family confirmed the tragic information to TMZ … telling us that she died early last week at her home in Illinois. She moved to the area to raise her family last year but had plans to return to California.
Sadly, we’re told she’s struggled with her mental health in recent months… as well as taking good care of her sick mother and sister – and a skateboarding accident compounded her problems.
Sarah gained national attention when she starred in the Miami-style fifth season of “The Actual World” in 1996.
She was a 25-year-old comic book store employee from La Jolla, California at the time… and fans may remember when she brought a pet back home during the thirteenth episode of the season.
Becker’s season marked the first time the cast was given a season’s worth of lawsuits to complete – starting a deal with $50,000. Battle and disorganization finally doomed their efforts.
Sarah’s family remembers her as a selfless person who cared for everyone else…but never seemed to care for herself. She was 52 years old.
