Princess Annethe 73-year-old sister of King Charles IIIwas hospitalized after being injured on Sunday while at her country home, Gatcombe Park estate, Buckingham Palace said on Monday.
“The Princess Royal suffered minor injuries and concussion following an incident at the Gatcombe Park estate last night. Her Royal Highness remains at Southmead Hospital in Bristol as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full and speedy recovery. The King has been kept informed and joins the entire Royal Family in sending their greatest love and best wishes to the Princess for a speedy recovery,” Buckingham Palace said.
The cause of Anne’s injuries is still being investigated, but it is understood that there were horses nearby at the time and her injuries are consistent with an impact to the head caused by a horse’s leg or hoof.
A palace spokesman said the princess’s engagements for next week would be postponed. This will include a scheduled trip to Canada.
Princess Anne’s last public appearance took place last week at Royal Ascot. She also participated in the annual Trooping the Color parade in London earlier this month.
