Foolio, born Charles Jones – was celebrating in Tampa two days after his real birthday when he was shot. Earlier in the day, he took to his Instagram Stories to extend an invitation to a pool party at his Airbnb. Jones told his followers to “DM me the address.” However, his lawyer, Lewis Fuso, stated that “was asked to leave for exceeding occupancy limits.”
Fusco said Foolio then “moved to the Holiday Inn” and it was “allegedly ambushed.” Jones and three other victims (who survived) were sitting in their cars in the parking lot when the perpetrators opened fire, according to police. Despite law enforcement reviewing surveillance footage, there are no suspects at this time.
According to First Coast News, This incident may be linked to the violence in the rapper’s past. He was reportedly a member of the Jacksonville KTA gang. The group reportedly has a long-standing feud with rival gangs in the area. Foolio lost her cousin in a gang-related shooting in 2018. Her relative was attending a birthday party for Charles’ brother. Additionally, Foolio was filmed in 2021 while at his recording studio in Jacksonville. However, the bullet only grazed him. He later taunted the shooters after the incident, stating: “You guys missed literally 100 shots.”
