The ‘Right Now’ show welcomed Jennifer Garner and her mom Pat on Monday for a cooking phase with Carson Daly, but couldn’t resist having a sweet talk with the mother-daughter duo first.

“Your husband passed away a little bit in the past, and I can only imagine how hard it was to get out of bed, to just start another day, but in the future you just decided, ‘Today is the day,’” Hoda told Pat, saying she admired your ability to do this.

“Well, I almost decided anyway before that it would be fine. I was so scared of being a widow and then I had an epiphany: ‘You might be okay.’
“And I’m actually fine,” Pat continued. Choking up a little, she added, “Right now, I miss him and I really wanted to tell him that I would be on ‘Right Now.’”
Hoda and co-host Savannah Guthrie everyone was visibly emotional too, with Hoda seen wiping away a tear.
“He loved how much people loved you, so he could be there smiling,” Jennifer told her mother.
She also talked about her tribute to fatherwhich she posted on her Instagram on April 1, the day after his death.
“Oh yeah, I mean, how lucky (am I) to grow up with parents like mine?” she reflected. “I’ve always been aware of it, my sisters and I are…we’re always very aware.”
In her moving post, she wrote that her father’s death after turning 85 was “not a tragedy” and that he lived “a healthy and wonderful life.” Instead, she said the day was one of “gratitude.”

“We are grateful for Dad’s light demeanor and quiet power. For the way he played with a mischievous smile, and for the way he invented the role of the whole, always prim, woman, father. We are grateful for his work ethic, management and religion.”
On Monday, she also shared some live appreciation for her mom, noting, “I have a pretty special mom. So my mom doesn’t judge people or things or if things are happening to you. She’s just gifted at giving to people and seeing what people need and just quietly taking care of them.
When Jennifer added that her mother wouldn’t feel guilty either, Pat agreed, saying, “I wouldn’t. Guilt as an ineffective emotion.”

The mother-daughter duo were on the show after co-hosting Carson Daly had already stated that they wanted to use them after seeing their adorable films at home cooking together. Garner knows how IG segments its “Fake cooking gift” for years, but with 16 million followers, it feels pretty real.
Even though Carson didn’t officially participate in the internship, he did come out to offer a goodie bag to “Mama G” before his actual baking phase.
