In particular, according to policeat noon on May 10, his accomplice called the elderly woman, pretending to be a doctor, claimed that her daughter had been injured and demanded money to supposedly perform immediate surgery.
In this way, the two strangers managed to extract the sum of 15,000 euros from her, which was received by the man in question.
The police investigation continues both to identify the details of his unknown accomplices and their possible participation in other similar criminal acts.
The created file will be submitted to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Veria.
In fact, in order to avoid deception of unsuspecting citizens by cunning people, EL.AS. recommends:
Do not trust strangers who try to convince you to give them money over the phone due to an urgent need from a family member or friend.
Don’t be convinced if the perpetrators allow you to speak on the phone to a supposed relative of yours.
Do not take any action without first contacting the specific person by phone to confirm.
Use another telephone device to contact your loved one, as the perpetrators may still be on the line.
Don’t accept any dates – date strangers and declare that you won’t make any money.
Always have emergency telephone numbers available (Police, Firefighters, hospitals, family members, etc.).
Always inform the Police, even if fraud is attempted against you.
