Who knew the British Army were Swifties?
The “Changing of the Guard (Taylor’s version)” was held by the Royal Corps of Army outside Buckingham Palace on Friday to mark the first night of Taylor Swiftstopover in London The Tour of the Ages. The royal family posted a two-minute video of guards playing an orchestral version of Swift’s hit “Shake It Off” to X (formerly Twitter).
“I can’t stop, I won’t stop dancing,’” the royal family captioned the tweet alongside three emojis: a greeting face, drum and trumpet. They also scored the British Army, the Army in London and the Royal Corps of Army Music.
Swift will perform at London’s 90,000-seat Wembley Stadium on June 21-23 and again on August 15-17 and August 19-20. Every show is sold out.
The “Changing of the Guard” twist wasn’t the only thing London did to welcome Swift. Transport for London (TfL) has unveiled a special “Tube Map (Taylor’s Version)” in X. Each line on Swift’s underground map is named after her albums and drawn in the style of a friendship bracelet.
“And by the way, I’m going out tonight,” TfL tweeted with a dancing emoji. “Introducing the Tube Map (Taylor’s version) #LDNTaylorsVersion #LondonTSTheErasTour.”
The Central Line is aptly named “Red (Taylor’s Version)” due to the line’s signature color, while the District Line has transformed into “Taylor Swift”. All stations are named after his hits, including “Shake It Off”, “I Knew You Were Trouble” and “Bad Blood”. The landmarks in “London (Taylor’s version)” were adorned with added gemstones to guide fans to places like Wembley Stadium, Notting Hill and Soho.
Meghan Markle is a known fan of Swift, such as she attended the singer’s concert in Los Angeles in August while Prince Harry was busy in Tokyo, Japan.
Since it was seen in Cannes, Franceearlier this week, Jason Kelce and his wife, Kylie Kelcerumored to be attending Swift’s first London show with Travis Kelcewho wore a pair of fan-made, Swift-inspired friendship bracelets that read “Cannes” and “Fearless.”
Travis told ET In April, he was taking time out of his schedule to watch Department of Tortured Poets artist performs in London.
“Oh, you know I need to support,” he revealed. “You know.”
“Man, I’ll tell you what. In the London shows, I think she’s been to Wembley eight times, which is mind-blowing that she can do that many shows in a stadium and sell it out,” he said emotionally. “I played at Wembley once and I don’t think we even filled that thing.”
Travis and the Chiefs played the Detroit Lions at Wembley Stadium in November 2015. But while the Chiefs steamrolled the Lions, 45-10, in that London showcase, they failed to sell out the game, drawing just 83,624.
“She will be all over Europe,” Travis added. “There won’t be a bad show, I promise you.”
