In a new episode of The Kardashians, Kylie Jenner is unexpectedly moved by criticism of his appearance.
In Thursday’s new Season 5 episode titled “Baby Rocky,” Kylie spends time with her big sister Kendall Jennerand they open up about feeling like their famous family is “dehumanized” by the media and public opinion.
“If you talked about us the same way as every other woman, people would come to your defense all day,” says Kendall. “But for some reason, with us, people don’t think we have feelings.”
“It’s a miracle that I can still have confidence and look in the mirror and think I’m beautiful,” agrees Kylie, later telling the cameras. “After more than 10 years of hearing about (my appearance), it gets tiring.”
Kylie says she’s been “on a journey” over the past year, dissolving half your lip filler. However, when recounting reading unpleasant comments about her appearance in her social media comments, she finally breaks down in tears, admitting: “I’ve never cried about it before, but I think it affects me.”
“It’s like, why do people think it’s okay to talk about me?” she cries, as Kendall hugs her.
Kylie notes that even when she sees supportive comments from fans, there always seems to be an answer as to why it’s considered acceptable for the public to mock Kylie and her sisters but not other women. “’Because she did this to herself,’” she says, echoing her critics. “’She ruined her face, she had so many surgeries.’”
“People have been talking about my appearance since I was 12, 13 years old. Even before I got lip fillers, people were talking about my appearance,” says Kylie. “I look old, I see it in every post.”
Kendall demonstrates empathy, admitting that her family is so famous that it’s almost impossible to try to change her critics’ minds. “Unfortunately, it’s something where we just need to develop thick skin,” she says.
“I think I’m very strong and I was put in this position for a reason. I consider myself a confident person,” Kylie finally told the cameras. “I’m human too and there’s a limit to what a person can take.”
The 26-year-old reality TV star and makeup mogul has, in fact, been addressing her appearance — specifically, her lips — for years. She was just 10 years old when her family was launched into reality TV stardom with the premiere of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, and the spotlight only continued to heat up.
All in 2018she revealed that “got rid” of lip fillers — with a source telling ET at the time that the decision was influenced by her becoming a mother for daughter Stormi.
According to the source, the makeup mogul and now mother of two became “more self-aware” after welcoming her first child.
“During Kylie’s pregnancy, she wasn’t using her usual fillers or applying much makeup,” the source added. “Kylie really fell in love with the natural look and wanted more of it, so she decided to stop getting fillers in her lips.”
More recently, Kylie has been evasive about a change in her personal style linked to her relationship with Timothée Chalamet.
“I don’t know how I feel about this,” she said The New York Times in March, responding to fans who wrote online that her new “cottagecore” aesthetic is tied to her famous boyfriend. “I just don’t want to talk about personal things.”
Kylie explained that welcoming their second child, son Airewas a major influence on the changes in his personal style.
“It takes me a while after having a baby to feel like myself again,” she said. “Then you get your body back and think, ‘Wait, trends have changed.’”
