As Rex Heuermann is accused of two more murders, investigators reveal what they consider to be a deleted phrase he used to “plan and methodically ‘plan’ his ‘kills.’
Investigators have released recently found digital evidence that they believe displays the suspects’ “motivations” and “meticulous planning.” Gilgo Seaside Serial Killer Rex Heuermann.
On thursday, Heuermann was accused of the murder of two more girls – Jessica Taylor and Sandra Costilla – following previous charges in the deaths of Amber Lynn Costello, Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman and Maureen Brainard-Barnes.
As part of the substitute bond application, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office detailed digital evidence allegedly recovered after multiple search warrants were executed on Heuermann’s devices.

“An analysis of these devices revealed Heuermann’s vital collection of violent, bondage and torture pornography, currently dating back to 1994,” the documents say. “The pornographic images accessed by Heuermann include, but are not limited to, breast mutilation, vaginal torture, sexual substitution (i.e., penetration with an object), sexualization of decapitated women, bondage and whipping, which notably and largely coincide with how the remains of Sandra Costilla, Jessica Taylor and Valerie Mack were found.”
A Phrase Doc believed to have been deleted by Heuermann was also found, one that investigators consider “to be a ‘planning document’ used by Heuermann to methodically plan and ‘plan’ his “kills.”
Displaying Good Morning America on Friday, prosecutor Raymond Tierney said: “We allege that the planning document shows his motivations, his meticulous planning and his clear intention to murder these six victims.” He added: “It is our allegation that there was a plan to kidnap these girls and preserve them for a period of time.”

The document was divided with subheadings for “ISSUES,” which investigators consider “a guide on issues to avoid seizure,” “SUPPLIES,” “DS,” or “Dump Items,” and “TRG,” which they consider a reference to “objective or sufferer.”
Among the many “problems” discussed are blood stains, fingerprints, witnesses, police stops and DNA. Meanwhile, supplies include lye/acid, cutting instruments, burn cans, tarps and hair nets. Dump sites include dumpsters, while authorities believe the phrase “small is great” beneath “TRG” refers to the physical size of the alleged victims.
Other categories in the document include “PRE-PREP,” “PREP” and “POST-EVENT,” which authorities consider to outline plans before, immediately before and after the murders. Below “RECON” video camera areas on nearby highways are listed.
Below a piece called “NOTES” is the phrase “The more you do, the more clues you give,” along with other tips supposedly taken from John Douglas’ book “Mindhunter” about profiling serial killers.
From there, the problems get much more disturbing.

For “BODY PREP”, the document says: “Wash body inside and all cavities”, “remove trace evidence (fingerprints/hair)”, “remove DNA evidence”, “remove identifying marks (tattoos, marks), ” “remove torture marks”, “remove head and fingers”, “transport package”. Many of these notes, investigators identified, were directly related to Taylor and Mack’s remains.
The document also included reminders to get rid of tools, clothing, “props, toys, wooden objects” and computer data.
Under the subtitle, “THINGS TO REMEMBER”, it said: “Sound travels”, “Sleeping before hunting too exhausted creates problems”, “hitting harder… think about a blow to the neck the next time you are taken down”, “Extra sleep and noise management = extra play time” and “Use heavy neck rope – soft rope broke under the stress of being tightened.”
According to investigators, ““play time” is believed to be a reference to sexual acts and mutilation perpetrated against the victims.”

The document ends with reminders to “remember not to waste gas,” “recognize” extra surveillance cameras and not “hunt for too long.”
“We will continue to review the cases,” Tierney said on GMA. “We have more people on Gilgo beach and we also have more people off the beach, which resulted in these two additional fees. Let’s get down to business.
Heuermann claimed he was not responsible for the fees.
