Fans are finally getting a look at what really led to Brittany Cartwrightthe decision to separate from her husband, Jax Taylor.
On Tuesday’s season finale The valleytensions reached a boiling point between the couple, whose separation was made public in February.
Months before that, however, The valley was catching all the couple’s marital problemsleading to the opening of his bar, Jax’s Studio City.
“As much as I want to have a baby, even I don’t know how you and I can bring another baby into this world if we don’t really fix these things in our relationship, because I don’t want that for our future,” Brittany told her husband about baby #2, who they planned to get together with your 3 year old sonCross.
Even despite his concerns, the bar’s opening went off without a hitch and Jax declared, “The future looks very bright.”
Six months later, however, news broke of Brittany and Jax’s split, and the cameras were collected to catch the consequences.
“I didn’t expect this to happen,” Jax cried in a confessional. “I never thought I would be in the position I am in now.”
In a conversation with his friend, Jason Caperna, Jax noted about his and Brittany’s split, “There are no affairs, there is no cheating, there is no abuse, there is none of that. I’m so triggered. My fuse is that big.” Because of this, Jax said it “doesn’t look good” for a reconciliation.”
Brittany agreed with that assessment, telling the cameras, “We had already been having problems all summer, but when the cameras stopped rolling, things seemed to be getting worse and worse and worse.”
“So about six weeks ago I split from Jax. I moved into an Airbnb with Cruz because Jax wouldn’t leave the house. of him moving. Especially being from Kentucky, a man doesn’t do that.
The situation, Brittany told friends Janet Caperna, Michelle Saniei and Nia Booko, became “very toxic” for her and Cruz one night.
“He was going out to the bar and stuff, coming home and having these horrible hangovers that would make him a fucking snake,” she said. “I’m sleeping. The next morning I wake up to Jax coming in. Me and Cruz are in my bed together, by the way. He comes in (saying:) ‘Why is Luke (Broderick) texting me right now asking if he needs someone Who can I talk to because of everything I’m going through?'”
“Finally, after he’s been yelling at me for hours… I packed up Cruz and I and we got the hell out of that house,” Brittany continued. “I kind of got to a point where I started to realize everything he did to me. It hit me like a ton of bricks or something. And then I was like, ‘What am I doing? Why am I here?'”
In a confessional, Brittany added, “It’s been very public the pain I’ve had to deal with. I just can’t deal with it anymore.”
“I feel like I’m mostly at the tipping point, but I’m not there yet,” Brittany told her friends. “I don’t want to disappoint my family. I fought for them to like him so much. I don’t want them to be disappointed in me and stuff because I don’t want to upset them.”
The estranged pair next met up for a chat, and although Jax seemed calm for the conversation, Brittany was quick to call him out on his behavior.
“You’re not going to run away just because of the way you’ve treated me all these years because you want to sit there acting cool and calm and collected. You’re not,” she told him, before the camera panned to Brittany. conversation with some friends, in which it was alleged that Jax called her fat, said she was lazy, and claimed she would have no friends if she ended the relationship.
Jax tried to insist that he was making changes, including scheduling a doctor’s appointment, but when Brittany discovered that he had only done so the day before cameras resumed filming, she called him out.
“This is all a facade,” Brittany insisted to the cameras. “That’s what he wants everyone to see and believe that he will actually do these things to change. I bet he won’t do that.”
In fact, Jax revealed that he did no go to his appointment.
“Do you want me back? Or are you just going to sit there and let me go? Because I will!” Brittany told Jax. “You took away my safe space. You took all of this away from me. I had to uproot myself and my son.”
“Why didn’t you do anything? Why didn’t you change?” she questioned. “You yelled at me, told me horrible things, that I had no friends here, that no one liked me here.”
Jax denied it, but Brittany continued.
“As soon as these cameras go down, you’re going to send me a million texts and say horrible things to me. You’re going to send me angry text messages,” she said. “Be real! Be real! I don’t know how to talk to you anymore. It sucks. I feel really weird even being in my own room.”
In a confessional, Brittany continued to express her frustration.
“Who just lies to get attention? He lies!” she said. “I recovered. I made a lot of money. I feel like I woke up. I feel so much stronger now. I know I’ll be okay. I know my worth and I know I did. I didn’t deserve to be in a relationship like that. Which I was thinking, staying with him so long?”
“I wouldn’t have Cruz if I had gotten rid of him a long time ago,” she continued. “So now I just think, now that I have Cruz and I’ve woken up from the situation, I feel like for his sake and for my mental health, I just can’t stay here anymore.”
As for where their relationship stands today, Jax recently revealed that he and Brittany agreed to see other people in the midst of their separation.
“Part of spending time apart means exploring other people,” he said in his When reality arrives podcast. “All marriages are different, but that’s what’s good for our marriage. That’s something we talk about and we’re on the same page. We have some rules, but that’s what we’re exploring.”
