“There has never been a case where a state went after a federal election. The southern district refused, we got authorization from the FEC, the Federal Election Commission, authorization! They are suing saying that we violated the thing, but they gave us authorization. But the accusation was written and I want to say it was a strange accusation,” Trump said.
When talking about the trial of silence, Trump also stated that he is not afraid of prison time or house arrest.
“I’m fine with that. The other day I saw one of my lawyers on television saying, ‘Oh no, you don’t want to do that to the president.’ I said, you don’t beg for anything. I don’t think the public would support that. I’m not sure the audience would accept that. I think it would be difficult for the public to accept, you know, that at a certain point there is a breaking point,” Trump said.
While awaiting sentencing, Trump maintains his position that he committed no wrongdoing. According to CNNhe also made reference to his wife, the former first lady, melania trump and his thoughts on the impeachment trial.
“I’m fighting for the Constitution. She’s fine, but I think it’s really hard for her. I mean, she’s fine. But you know, she has to read all this crap,” Donald said.

Along with the trial of silence, Trump also faces three other legal battles. These include a federal election interference case in Washington, D.C., a state election interference case in Georgia, and a federal case alleging misuse of classified documents and national security information.
Now that the trial has concluded, Judge Merchan has scheduled Trump’s sentencing for July 11. The date comes days before the Republican Party’s official nomination for the 2024 presidential elections.
Trump did not hesitate to comment on his accusation after the proceedings. He claimed his innocence and told reporters he believed the trial was “rigged.”
“This was a disgrace – it was a rigged trial by a conflicted judge who was corrupt. This is a fraudulent trial, a disgrace. They wouldn’t allow us to change locations, we’re at 5% or 6% in this district, in this area. This is a rigged and shameful trial. The real verdict will be given by the people on November 5th, and they know what happened here, and everyone knows what happened here… We did nothing wrong, I am a very innocent man. And everything is fine. I’m fighting for our country, I’m fighting for our constitution. Our entire country is being defrauded now. This was done by the Biden administration to hurt or injure a political opponent and I think it is simply disgraceful.”
