Fever coach Christie Sides is dealing with the situation by sending tapes of the tough plays to the league. She told reporters, “I’m trying not to get fined.” Sides said she was “I’m going to keep sending these assets to the league and these plays.” Coach Sides wants the referees to open their eyes to the roughness Caitlin is facing on the field. “We hope they start to take a better look at some of the things we see happening or think are happening,” she said.
Chennedy Carter flagrant foul against Caitlin Clark
As previously reported by The Shadow Room, Chennedy Carter slapped Caitlin on the shoulder and sent her to the floor during a June 1 game — the Chicago Sky versus the Indiana Fever. The incident occurred after Carter jumped. Aliyah Boston was waiting to receive the ball to Caitlin when Chennedy hit her from the wing. The hit was ruled a personal foul without review, but was upgraded to Flagrant-1 violation after referees watched a replay on Sunday, June 2.
During a post-match press conference, the number 7 refused to speak about the incident. She stated, “I’m not answering any of Caitlin Clark’s questions.” When a reporter asked if they exchanged words, Chennedy said he didn’t know what the guard said. Additionally, she said she has not spoken to the former Iowa Hawkeye. However, the video appeared to show Chennedy shouting a few words before making contact with Caitlin.
Chicago Sky coach Teresa Weatherspoon apparently ruled out the players meeting, stating that they were just “competing”.
As reported by The Shadow Room, Caitlin complained about the roughness on the court. During an earlier post-game interview, she told reporters that she was being “hammered” at the Court. Furthermore, she said that referees were letting their opponents “(run away) with things.
