The Bachelorette star Trista Sutter is making her well-being clear, and she’s doing it while on vacation in Mexico.
Trista took to Instagram on Saturday and posted a lengthy explanation in the caption of a post featuring her family at the beach. O Bachelor Nation alum shared her version of things after her husband, Ryan Sutter, initially shared a black and white photo of him and Trista saying she is not with her family. A few days later, Ryan followed up the post by clarifying that everything is “fine” with him and his wife, adding that she is “looking a little” and that “an opportunity has presented itself that can help her in that search.”
But the cryptic posts it got everyone talking and wondering when Trista was going to tell her side of the story. And now she has done it.
“Wow guys. Can’t a girl have a nervous breakdown/trial separation/midlife crisis/death/divorce in peace around here?! 😜🤣,” she began her caption. “In all seriousness, to those involved, I am safe and sound, happy and healthy, in love and grateful. 🥰. For those who prefer to focus on being critical and looking too hard for the darkness, good luck with that. 🙃
An opportunity for perspective and personal growth presented itself and with the unconditional support of my family and friends, I chose myself and improved, knowing that my work as a stay-at-home mom and my children’s end-of-school-year needs were in the best and most capable hands. .”
Trista, the first Bachelorette and runner-up of season 1 of The Bachelor, explained that her “stoic husband, who usually chooses privacy over posting, decided to share his love for me in messages that would find me on my travels.” She said they look at Instagram as “a digital diary.”
She added that most of the time the world doesn’t pay attention to her posts, but this time she acknowledged that Ryan’s post caught everyone’s attention. Although Ryan’s initial post was described as cryptic, Trista said his words gave her exactly what she needed in words of affirmation.
“And that’s all that matters,” she said.
“If you want to know the rest of the story, I will share it in due time,” she added. “For now, we’re back to our regular schedule – on a beach in Mexico. After all, nervous breakdowns and breakups require much-needed rest and relaxation.”
Ryan, a firefighter, met Trista on season 1 of The Bachelorette. They got married in 2003 and share two children – Maxwell, 16, and Blakesley, 14.
