More details on Diddy’s resurfaced music video
On Wednesday, May 22, a user of X, formerly known as Twitter, @itsavibe, posted a clip from Diddy’s 2009 appearance on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show.’ At this time, the exact date Diddy appeared on the show is still unclear. However, NBCWashington initially reported Diddy’s meeting with DeGeneres on March 11, 2009.
Complex adds that Diddy’s conversation with DeGeneres started with her asking the mogul about Chris Brown being at her house. According to PEOPLE, earlier that year in February, Brown made headlines after assaulting his then-girlfriend, Rihanna. A few weeks later, ABC news reported that both stars were spotted at Diddy’s mansion in Miami, Florida.
“You clearly have a lot of people thinking, ‘Why would you do that?’ Why would you give Chris, a guy who hit a girl and is riding a jet ski around… I don’t understand,” DeGeneres told Diddy.
In response, Diddy explained that he doesn’t throw stones and always looks for a friend.
“I know them both, and the house is mine, and I can give my house to whoever I want…” he explained. “Number two is that I’m the kind of person who… I don’t throw a stone or judge anyone… if a friend asks me for a favor, I’ll be there to ask for a favor, as long as I know that the energy of the favor is positive for two people to sit down and talk about a situation they find themselves in.”
Diddy’s response seemed to confirm that Brown possibly used his space for reconciliation efforts with Rihanna. For her part, DeGeneres explained that she wouldn’t want any woman to feel like she had to return to an abusive situation.
“I think you come from a place of friendship and kindness and support… (But) it’s hard for me… I don’t want any girl out there thinking it’s okay to go back to a guy who hit on her… and I don’t want to put you through that because it’s not you,” DeGeneres told Diddy.
In response, Diddy told the host he was putting him “into it.” Furthermore, he explained that he did not believe violence was right in any case. However, “relationships get ugly.”
“I don’t think it’s right for anyone to hit anyone, at the end of the day… (but) I think we all have to be honest with ourselves as adults and people who have been in relationships,” he said. “We know that sometimes these relationships get ugly, and sometimes it doesn’t show up like this, and there are a lot of stones being thrown and we don’t know exactly what’s going on. These are two young people. We need to pray for them and we need to support them…”
Diddy explained that no one other than Rihanna and Brown were present when the attack happened. Therefore, everyone should offer “support” and “prayers” instead of judgment.

Here’s Why The Resurfaced Clip Sparked Thoughts
Diddy sharing his perspective on domestic violence and reconciliation sparked backlash on social media due to recent public events in the music mogul’s life. As The Shadow Room Previously reported, on Friday, May 17, the 54-year-old made headlines after footage emerged of him assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie in 2016.
In the clip, the pair were at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles, and Diddy was seen grabbing, kicking and throwing glass vases at Cassie.
A few days later, Diddy issued a video statement in response to the resurfaced footage, per The Shadow Room. The father of seven explained that he had hit “rock bottom” at the time of the incident and called his actions “inexcusable.”
So far, the music mogul’s apology has generated a lot of reactions from social media users and fans, for The Shadow Room. Many believe he only apologized for the incident because he was “caught.”
Additionally, the viral footage prompted some people close to Diddy to publicly distance oneselfwhile those who previously worked closely with him share more about his behavior that they allegedly witnessed.
The footage even prompted one of Diddy’s children’s mothers to talk about your “own trauma,” while Cassie recently broke her silence to thank her fans for their support.
