Patrick Mahomes is defending Harrison Butker …praising the kicker as a person of excellent character following his controversial commencement speech earlier this month.
Butker is at the center of much criticism after speaking at the Benedictine College graduation ceremony… during which he shared his views that many considered sexist, anti-gay and politically divisive.

The Kansas City famer addressed Butker’s reaction with Chiefs Act reporters on Wednesday … and while he said the two may not see eye to eye on every challenge, he still understands his teammate is a man.
“I know Harrison,” the three-time Super Bowl MVP said minutes ago. “I’ve recognized Harrison for seven years. I choose him for the character he reveals every day and that is a specific person.”
He added… “There are certain things he said that I don’t necessarily agree with, but I understand who he is. He is trying to do everything he can to guide people on the right path. They may not be the same values that I have, but at the same time, I will choose him because of the character he reveals every day and that he is an incredible person.”

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid also addressed the outrage… defending his participant and saying he personally believes Butker “wasn’t talking to women with health issues, but he has his opinions and we respect that.”
Reid also highlighted how he doesn’t share the same thoughts as some of the reporters present, but still allows them into the room.
It’s more support from the Chiefs team – as we previously reported, heir to the team Gracie Hunt weighed in on Butker’s claim last week… saying She respects his religion and all his achievements inside and outside the sphere.
