The electoral process in North Macedonia has concluded, with the polls prepared for the “double” elections closed. It should be noted that polling stations were created in North Macedonia for the parliamentary elections and the second round of the presidential elections.
As announced by the country’s National Electoral Commission, half an hour before the polls closed, the participation rate in the parliamentary elections reached 53.4%, while the corresponding rate in the second round of the presidential elections was 46.4%.
A change in the electoral scenario is expected
For the second round of the presidential elections to be considered valid, the participation rate must exceed 40%, which has been achieved and the validity of the presidential elections is considered a given.
There is no binding participation limit for parliamentary elections.
Today’s “double” elections It is expected that there will be a change in the country’s political scenario, since they disregard the predominance of the right-wing opposition party VMRO-DPMNE and the defeat of the Social Democratic Party in power.
The first indicative results should be known later this evening.
