Prince Harry landed in the UK to attend the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games!
On Tuesday, the 39-year-old former senior member of the royal family – who stepped away from his duties next to his wife, Meghan Markle, in March 2020 — arrived to celebrate the start of the charity event. The games, founded by Prince Harry after his time in the British Army as an air traffic controller, are held every year in support of sick and injured military personnel.
In photos posted online, the Save the author can be seen making his grand entrance at the event and greeting attendees before taking the stage for a panel. While inside, the group participated in the “IGF Conversation: Realizing Global Community” discussion before the games began.
While the event has been held in Germany, Australia, Canada and the Netherlands in previous years, this year’s festivities – the tenth of its kind – took place in Harry’s home country. The 2025 event will be set in Vancouver.
This year, all eyes will be on the second son of the late Princess Diana It is King Charles III as he lives across the pond in the US with Meghan and their two children. Although they retreated several years ago, recent illnesses in the royal family – including both Kate Middleton and King Charles receiving cancer diagnoses — left many wondering whether Prince Harry might reconsider his decision to leave.
Following the news that his father was undergoing cancer treatment, ET confirmed that Charles’ youngest son had quickly flew to the UK to visit with his father, albeit for a brief period of time – reportedly just a few hours.
On Tuesday, a representative for the Duke of Sussex shared with ET that despite their close proximity to each other, Prince Harry would not visit his father on this trip due to his busy schedule for the Invictus Games.
A spokesperson for Prince Harry told ET: “In response to the many questions and continued speculation about whether or not the Duke will meet his father while in the UK this week, unfortunately it will not be possible due to His full schedule. Majesty. .”
The rep added: “The Duke, of course, understands his father’s commitment schedule and various other priorities and looks forward to seeing him soon.”
It’s more of a case of “so close, yet so far” with his immediate family in England after Harry and Prince William both participated in a memorial event by their mother – Harry virtually and William in person – and barely avoided each other. O Royal Rift seems to be worse than ever to the brothers a whole year after barely knowing each other during his father’s coronation.
The ice may be melting, however, as ET discovered in March that Meghan, 42, and Harry got in touch privately to Prince William, 41, and the Princess of Wales, 42, following their cancer diagnosis.
Furthermore, in a statement to ETthe Duke and Duchess of Sussex said at the time: “We wish Kate and her family health and healing and hope they can do so privately and in peace.”
