As all eyes were on the 2024 GalaMany asked themselves: Where is Rihanna?
ET has learned that the “Rude Boy” singer, 36, unfortunately had to miss the event because she came down with the flu and was too sick to stun on the carpet like she has in recent years. RiRi’s absence was felt after a long hiatus from the event and her return in 2023.
Last year she returned to the famous event and dressed her baby bump in a beautiful white dress from Valentino after announcing her pregnancy with baby No. 2 during her Super Bowl performance.
Earlier this year, she confirmed she would be attending the 2024 Met Gala, telling Brits Vogue that she would not disclose any details about her look, but that it would be her own brand.
“I’m going to wear something Fenty! Fenty Beauty, Fenty Skin, Fenty Savage,” she shared.
“I’ve done so much shit in my life. I’ve put my nipples out, my panties out. But now, these are the things that, I think, as a mother and an evolved young woman — emphasis on young woman — there are things that I feel like would never, like, ‘Oh my God, did I really do that?’
The “Umbrella” singer is now a mother of two thanks to her collaboration with her partner A$AP Rocky. The duo reunited at the end of 2019 and welcomed their first child, RZA, in 2022. Eager to expand their family, the couple quickly continued their first genetic collaboration with a boy named Riot, in August 2023.
It’s no news that RZA and Riot have become as stylish as their parents! Talking with ET at the launch of his FENTY x PUMA Creeper Phatty Earth Tone shoeThe self-made billionaire said that after initially struggling with how she would dress her children Rza and Riot, she looked for an answer right in front of her.
“When I wear them, I always try to dress them like Rocky,” she told ET. “Because I always imagine dressing a girl, right? We all do as women, like, ‘Oh, I’m going to dress her in these cute little things,’ but then you have kids and you think, ‘What do I do?’ and I thought, ‘You know what, I have the biggest hack – their dad.’
In December, she told ET at a separate Creeper Phatty launch event that the sky is the limit for her and her dreams of having an entire line dedicated just to kids, even though she was taking it slow when starting out with children’s shoes.
“This collaboration for me was being able to invite my whole family to a design and collection that I did,” Rihanna shared. “I could see my babies in these shoes.”
