Daniel Radcliffe is not bending to J. Okay. Rowlingongoing campaign to speak out about transgender issues – instead, he’s supporting the LGBTQ+ community.
The ‘Harry Potter’ star was asked about the saga in a new interview with The Atlantic – and he says everything to JK, who created ‘Potter’, which makes him really unhappy.
He adds, “I take a look at the person I knew, the times we met, the books she wrote, and the world she created, and all of that is deeply empathetic to me.” DR goes on to say that when she pushed back at JK a few years ago, he felt like he wanted it.
You may remember… Dan issued a statement at the time during the Trevor Mission – where he said that trans women were women, period. This was against the stances JK took.
Daniel continues: “(I) would have seemed, I don’t know, immense cowardice to me if I hadn’t said anything. I needed to try to help those who were negatively affected by the feedback. And to say that if these are Jo’s opinions, then they are not the opinions of everyone associated with the ‘Potter’ franchise.”
He even responded to something J.Ok. recently spoke out about him and other ‘Potter’ actors putting pressure on her – where she said they could save her excuses on the matter.
Dan says, “I will continue to advocate for the rights of all LGBTQ people and have no further comment beyond that.”
