Taylor Swift is a member of the Kansas City Chiefs family thanks to her relationship with Travis Kelce.
In a new interview with KCTVChiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy shared what it means to have the “Fortnight” singer, 34, as an extra member of the team family since she began dating Kelce, 34, in the fall.
“We loved having her as part of the family, the team, what she and Kelc did is a cool story. It’s a credit to both of them to be two great, powerful people who are also so humble, so talented,” Nagy, 46, said while speaking to reporters.
He added: “And they are very talented at what they do, whether it’s football or singing.”
Swift made her first NFL game appearance in September after Kelce proposed to her to come watch him play at Arrowhead Stadium. He saw her perform during the Eras Tour stop at the Chiefs’ stadium earlier that summer. She quickly became a fixture at Kansas City games and ended up cheering for Kelce and her teammates until a Super Bowl victory in February.
The former Chicago Bears coach went on to say that having the record-breaking singer-songwriter around is still something he comes to terms with, as it’s certainly not every day that you find yourself this close to one of the most famous people on the planet. , let alone two or even three of them.
“It’s definitely rare, for sure,” he said. “I mean, you’re talking about Taylor Swift and Kelce and Patrick (Mahomes).”
Nagy went on to state that while he may not be making friendship bracelets with Swift right now — unfortunately, he hasn’t had the chance to meet the “Karma” singer yet — he knows Mahomes and Kelce very well and he couldn’t be happier about the individual rise to fame.
The comments from one of Kelce’s coaches come as Swift feels all the love from her fans and her man after releasing her 11th studio album, Department of Tortured Poets, on Friday. Over the weekend, a fountain shared with ET how Kelce is showing up for Swift during this period.
“He knows how much this means to her and thinks she is extremely talented,” the source said. “Taylor and Travis admire each other’s creative processes and work ethic. They root for each other, respect each other’s opinions, and are open and communicative.”
Additionally, fans seem to think that Swift returned the love to Kelce by writing several songs on the album for her boyfriend, including “The Alchemy” and “So high school.”
“So when I land / Call the amateurs and cut them from the team / Ditch the clowns, take the crown / Baby, it’s me who should be,” she sings in the chorus of the first song, before seemingly referencing Chiefs Super Bowl to win.
“Take your shirt off and your friends lift you up, above their heads / Beer stuck to the floor, cheers because they said / ‘There was no chance of trying to be the biggest in the league / Where’s the trophy? , running to me,” Swift sings.
On “So High School,” fans quickly assumed that Kelce was the inspiration for the song after early in the hit song she sang, “You know how to play ball, I know Aristotle.”
‘Take my car door, isn’t that cute? (How sweet) / So pull me in the backseat (backseat) / Nobody ever had me (had me), not like you,” the lyrics to the second song supposedly about Kelce read.
