As if the famous Venice Beach scene in Los Angeles wasn’t wild enough – now it has monkeys patrolling the sand… on horses, no less!!!
Yes, the marketing team behind “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” came up with a really eye-catching way to promote the film on Monday…by having a bunch of monkeys mount up and ride horses along the beach.
No, they’re not real apes – PETA would get over that – but the costumed actors were quite convincing at first glance… looking very much like a scene ripped straight from the film’s plot, of the apes taking over.
Luckily, the actors didn’t exactly put the horses into a gallop, opting for a slower stroll along the beach… combined with intense, menacing stares to make their presence felt.
Despite the lack of action, the apes’ invasion certainly sparked talk about the upcoming film, which is set to open in U.S. theaters on May 10.
Online fandom went wild over the marketing stunt, hailing it as pure genius and confessing that it hooked them and primed them to watch the film.
Directed by Wes BolaThis film serves as a sequel to 2017’s “War for the Planet of the Apes.”
The only problem with this stunt is that Venice Beach is already filled with outrageous landscapes and characters – so primates on patrol might seem like just another Monday.
