For Uma Thurmanbeing in the same room as her pulp Fiction co-stars 30 years later seems important.
Speaking with ET’s Cassie DiLaura at the cult classic’s 30th anniversary screening at the TCM Classic Film Festival on Thursday, the 53-year-old Kill Bill the actress shared her excitement and gratitude for reuniting with the cast members of the Quentin Tarantino film, including John Travolta It is Samuel L. Jackson.
“It’s fantastic,” Thurman said on the carpet, where he also took photos with Travolta, Jackson and Harvey Keitel. “It’s historic, totally moving and moving.”
Thurman – who played the iconic character Mia Wallace in the 1994 release – added: “It’s wonderful to have the film remembered and thought about tonight.”
The film – which garnered a total of seven Oscar nominations, including a nod for Thurman in the Best Supporting Actress category – also starred Bruce Willis who was not present, but was represented by his wife, Emma Heming Willisand daughter, Tallulah Willis.
Before she was cast pulp FictionThurman had a number of small film and television roles, and the film is widely credited with putting her on the map and launching her now prolific career.
She told ET that she’s ambivalent about the fact that it’s been 30 years since the film was released, but that when it comes to her co-stars, namely Jackson — who gave her a big hug at the event — her feelings are less obscure.
“He’s the best,” she said of the Avengers star.
Thurman, Jackson and Travolta previously reunited at the 2022 Oscars, where they danced on stage before presenting the Best Lead Actor trophy to Will Smith for King Richard. The dancing part was a reference to a seminal scene from the film, in which Travolta and Thurman cut a rug.
So the million-dollar question now is: Does Thurman still have the moves from the movie? She told ET that of course they’re still in it, they’re just not as in-demand as they once were.
“Anytime…but not this one,” she joked, adding that Travolta, 70, is the one expected to go for an impromptu dance moment. “He’s good, you can trust him.”
In turn, Travolta – who attended the screening with his daughter, Ella – said it was surreal to reunite with her former cast members. He also shared that he made Ella, 24, wait until she was 18 to watch the classic (but rather NSFW) film.
“She loved all of it. She’s a cinephile. She has good taste in cinema. She’s got that,” he said.
