It’s being reported that Caitlin Clark may have recently received an 8-figure shoe deal from Nike, but it doesn’t come without backlash.
Daily Mail reports sports commentator Jemele Hill believes Caitlin deserves her deal, but A’ja Wilson, who is “arguably the best player in the WNBA,” should get hers too.
Social media agrees.

Not only did A’ja make TIME magazine’s ‘100 Most Influential People in the World’ list, but she is also a New York Times bestselling author. Not to mention the championship titles A’ja won in the WNBA and in college.
The social media consensus believes the 27-year-old deserves a shoe. While they believe Caitlin’s Nike deal was well-deserved, they believe it’s a slap in the face that A’ja will be left without.
Both women were first-round picks after entering the WNBA draft.
What did Jemele Hill say?
Only two other WNBA players have signature shoes – Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu. They both also happen to be white women.
Sports journalist Jemele Hill he said, “I didn’t say any of these players didn’t deserve their own shoes.”
His tweet on X, formerly known as Twitter, continued“I’m surprised that arguably the best player in the WNBA — a best-selling author and someone Time put on its 100 most influential list — doesn’t have his own shoe.”
