Hoda Kotbthe dream interview would be a big scoop.
While sitting in New Orleans for ET’s “Spilling the E-Tea” segment, Kotb’s Today co-host, Jenna Bush Hager, asked her to name the one person she’s still dying to interview. Turns out she is none other than the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton.
“I’ve always had this person in mind, more so now than ever, but I’ve always wanted to interview Kate Middleton,” Kobt, 59, admitted. “I just think she would be — first of all, we don’t know much about her. She’s going through all kinds of things with grace, so I think she would be mine.”
Middleton, of course, has taken a step back from her royal duties due to health concerns. The mother of three announced on March 22 that she had been diagnosed with cancer. Although she did not reveal the type of cancer she is battling, Middleton shared that she was suffering from “preventive chemotherapy” and was “in the early stages of this treatment.”
During “Spilling the E-Tea,” Kotb was also asked to share Bush Hager’s most annoying habit. After reading the question, Bush Hager, 42, joked, “What a cruel (question). They’re trying to break us up after five years?!”
But Kotb was not intimidated.
“We don’t like to look for flaws, however, if you’re asking, that’s also one of her advantages – she’s extremely competitive,” Kotb shared about her esteemed co-host. “And even when she doesn’t win, she pretends like she did.”
Bush Hager added, “I’m competitive. I’m actually working on my sportsmanship…just trying to make sure I’m a better sportsman.”
Bush Hager also talked a little about his greatest mother’s failures. Kotb asked, for example, whether Bush Hager ever pretended to bake a cake when it was purchased at the store or whether she ever threw away her children’s artwork.
“Yes, I definitely throw away my children’s artwork,” joked Bush Hager, who shares children Mila, 10, Poppy, 8, and Hal, 4, with husband Henry Hager.
Bush Hager added, “It made me feel bad. I felt like I needed to stop doing this because they know.”
She joked that teachers “only need to send home the fine art…one piece a year, but if it’s not good enough, we’ll probably put it in the recycling bin.”
As Today with Hoda and Jenna celebrates its 5th anniversary in New Orleans, Bush Hager asked Kotb to remember the day he officially joined her as co-host five years ago.
“I thought you were super excited. You were kind of scared, which I liked, but what I remember most about you that day — and every day since — is that you are 100 percent yourself,” Kotb recalled. . . “You are 100% yourself on day one and you are 100% yourself five years later.”
