Rihanna reflects on meeting A$AP Rocky and talks about how their romance began
During the singer’s exclusive chat with Interview MagazineShe talked about the meeting A$AP Rockyfather of her two children, in 2012. It is worth mentioning that the duo shared a steamy performance at that year’s VMAs, where Rocky grabbed the singer’s ass, for MTV.
“So that was the day we thought we met. In rehearsal, it was like, manager to manager, client to client”, explained Rih. “So when he grabbed my ass that night, everyone thought… my team was worried that I wanted to put his head on the fucking mantle. But I thought, ‘Oh no.’ That’s why everyone was like, ‘Oh my God. She likes him.
From there, Rih explained that they remained friends until things changed in 2019.
“We saw fashion in the same way. We see creative in the same way. We ended up running in the same circles a lot. And besides, when we grow up, we end up supporting each other’s brands and products and being creative all the time. I would use his shit, he would appear on my releases. But it wasn’t until the end of 2019… (until) we started dating very cautiously,” she explained.
The singer explained that the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic “accelerated” their romance.
“COVID accelerated our relationship, which I felt like God knew we needed because we were going to start a family. And if it weren’t for COVID, it would have taken us a lot longer to feel comfortable with each other, to even know we were ready,” she said. “…We haven’t even talked about it. There was no denying it. It was the best thing that ever happened to us. It just happened.
Before ending the interview, Rih explains that she hopes to give birth to a girl in the future – the couple currently shares two children, both under the age of 2.
While promoting the interview, the singer took time to poke fun at her status as a mother, sharing a separate photo from her Interview Mag shoot on Instagram.
“literally how I feel postpartum with 2 under 2s,” she wrote.
At this time, neither Rihanna nor Interview Mag have publicly addressed the social media backlash.
