Families come in all shapes and sizes, and for some, that means having parents who are part of the LGBTQ+ community. In fact, there are some celebrities who were raised by queer parents – and in turn, this has led to many of them openly supporting the LGBTQ+ community. While some of these stars admit it wasn’t the most traditional upbringing, it made them who they are today.

1. kendall & Kylie Jenner
Kendall and Kylie Jenner may have grown up in the spotlight with their family, but it wasn’t until 2015 that their father, Caitlyn, began publicly disclosing the fact that she was a transgender woman. Caitlyn had long struggled privately with her gender identity and her daughters say their relationship actually improved when Caitlyn came out.
“When my dad came out as transgender, our relationship grew,” Kendall said. People. “She can finally be trusted with me. We could talk about the deep feelings she was feeling at that moment. When my father grew up, he rarely talked about her feelings, so this was a big step for us.”
Kylie added: “My dad has always been an inspiration to me, from winning the gold medal at the Olympics to getting his pilot’s license. However, watching her stand outside of her true self was probably the most inspiring of them all.”

two. Jay-Z
Jay Z’s mother, Gloria Carter, came out publicly as a lesbian in 2017 with a little help from her son. Gloria opened up about her sexuality in Jay’s song “Smile,” lending her voice to the song’s ending. Although Gloria says she had known for a long time that she was a lesbian, she explained that she kept the key for so long to “defend (her) family from ignorance.” Although she was “completely satisfied,” she was not truly free until she met her accomplice, who gave her the courage to speak out.
“Then one day I met someone who made my heart sing. It made me not want to peek at them, but actually look at them with loving eyes. Love gave me the courage to take advantage of the ease I allowed different people to have throughout my life, for fear that they would reveal my secret, which in fact wasn’t a secret,” she shared via GLAAD Media Awards.

3. Mandy Moore
When Mandy Moore was in her early 20s, her mother and father separated – and her mother, Stacy, began courting a girl. Along with her mother’s coming out later in life, Mandy’s two brothers also came out as homosexual. Despite not being the most traditional family, she says they are all “terribly close”.
“No one is hiding who they are. There are no secrets and techniques in our lives. I love and help my mother and brothers with all my heart. And nothing makes me happier than seeing someone stay true and decide for love. If someone can find love, I help you, I salute you and I have fun with it,” said Mandy People.

4. Paulo Bettany
Paul Bettany says his father, Thane, had a complicated relationship with his sexuality throughout his life. After 25 years of marriage to Paul’s mother, the couple separated and Thane began dating someone else. Thane and his partner Andy dated for 20 years, but when Andy passed away, he found himself back in the closet.
“I had a homosexual father who died a few years ago. He came out of the closet at age 63. He then had a 20-year relationship with a man named Andy Clark. It was a happy reduction for everyone, really,” advised Paul Complete film diary.
He continued: “When his partner died, he was 80 at the time, my father decided to come back into the closet and say it was all a big misunderstanding because he was Catholic and he was worried about it. passing Peter through the pearly gates. Dave Bautista’s mother, Donna Raye, is a lesbian and this has made the former wrestler an outspoken supporter of the LGBTQ+ community. Over the years, he has celebrated Fulfillment Month along with his mother and shared inspirational messages about her.
“I was always happy with who my mother was because she was always happy with who she was. In your face, f— you to those you don’t prefer, unapologetically loud and proud. And the (paid) consideration of her son. BE LOUD, BE PROUD, BE YOU”, Dave wrote on Instagramincluding the hashtag #ProudSonOfALesbian.
6. Ally Sheedy
When Ally Sheedy was just a child, her parents divorced and her mother, Charlotte, became a lesbian. She became an activist in the LGBTQ+ community and helped shape Ally’s views on sexuality. Since then, Ally’s daughter has also come out as homosexual.
“The thing is, for both my mother and my daughter, (coming out) wasn’t really an ‘occasion’ so to speak. There is no occasion when anyone says, ‘Let me come to you.’ … I mean, this happens to some people where they choose to go back online – which is their thing. I don’t remember a moment when I thought, ‘Oh, my God… my mother is homosexual!’ because it was an ongoing dialogue… It’s simply part of life. It’s like, ‘This is mom and here’s mom’s life’… I can’t imagine things being any different,” Ally shared with Windy City Occasions.

7. Robert de Niro
Growing up, Robert De Niro didn’t really know his father, Robert De Niro Sr., and was only aware of his sexuality. Looking back at his father’s life through his diary entries, Robert discovered that he was extremely conflicted about being homosexual, even referring to it as an “affliction.”
“Yes, he was probably (conflicted), being from that time, especially from a small town in the interior of the state. I wasn’t very aware of it. I wish we had talked about this a lot more,” he said. Joel was married to Jennifer’s mother, Jo Wilder, for 24 years and kept his sexual identity a secret for much of his life. When he came out, he chose to keep it private, only telling family and friends. When he decided to come out publicly, Jennifer shared her support for her father.

Jena Malone’s mother, Deborah, was once recognized as a lesbian, although she no longer dates women. Growing up, Jena was raised by her mother and her accomplice, whom Jena called “godmother.” After they broke up, Deborah renounced the relationship and began courting men.
“When I was young, I didn’t know I was different. They were never declared homosexuals. My godmother was more open about it than my mother. Still, my mother resigns. She doesn’t like to talk about it. It was the only relationship she had with a girl. She discovered Christianity when they broke up and started courting men again,” Jena said. LA weekly.

Before Anne Heche’s passing, she revealed that her father, Donald, was concerned about men during his life. He passed away when she was just 13, shortly after telling her family that he was secretly battling AIDS.
“We were told – he never admitted it. 50 Cent’s mother passed away when he was very young, but before her death, he realized that she was a lesbian. He mentioned his grandmother, who helped raise him, defined the character of his mother’s sexuality.
“My mother was a lesbian. Yes, she appreciated women. My whole childhood was like that,” he said in an interview with Perez Hilton. “They’re two different things too – from a female perspective, when you see two women together, you think, oh, they’re just girlfriends, they’re close. However, with my mother, the masculine was missing… While you are so small, you don’t see problems that might indicate that there are different problems occurring.
