Garrison Brown’s mother, Janele Brownshared photos from her celebration of life ceremony.
On Saturday, the Sister Wives star took to Instagram to share a series of somber photos from the service in honor of her and Kodyson.
“It’s been hard to get my brain to work properly again. I am so grateful for the outpouring of love and support I have received over the past three weeks,” she wrote. “The support has been overwhelming. I’m honored. So many of you have shared stories of your loved ones. Many of you have written about your thoughts and prayers. Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️.”
“Garrison was honored by family and his National Guard Unit last Sunday in a celebration of life ceremony. He would have loved it,” she continued. “I’m sharing some of the photos. Many have seen many of them online, often accompanied by sarcastic comments. But this was a beautiful moment for us.”
Janelle’s post began with a photo of members of the United States National Guard folding an American flag during the presentation of military honors. The photo carousel included photos of service members standing at attention off duty.
In the somber photos, Janelle cries as she receives the flag in honor of her son. By her side are her son, Kody, and his wife, Robyn. Also pictured at the end of the line is Christine Brown – who is visibly emotional.
Other family members appear in line behind them.
On March 5, the Flagstaff Police Department confirmed in a statement to ET that they were dispatched to Garrison’s Arizona residence and found him dead after being called by his younger brother, Gabriel. According to authorities, Garrison appeared to have suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No crime is suspected. He was 25 years old.
Following the news of Garrison’s death, Kody, Janelle and Meri released joint statements about the loss.
In the weeks that followed, Garrison was remembered by his family and siblings. Last week, Kody and Christine Brown’s daughter, Ysabel Brown, remembered her brother.
A story posted by the second youngest of Kody and Christine’s six children showed a photo of Garrison, a toddler, holding her as a baby, with the oldest of the two smiling directly at the camera. Another slide included a photo of an adult Garrison looking up at the night sky while in the desert. She accompanied the photo with the song “Ends of the Earth” by Lord Huron.
“I love you forever and will miss you forever,” Ysabel wrote.
In a more recent update, Janelle said she was moved “to tears” by the expression of love and support she received from fans in the weeks following her son’s death.
“I was brought to tears again. I’m being informed of everyone’s donations to @highcountryhumane @arkcatsanctuary in Garrison’s name,” Janelle shared. “Thank you everyone for your generosity. It means a lot. The cats he adopted from both agencies meant a lot to him. He loved being a cat dad.”
