News broke on Thursday about Teyana Taylor file a new motion against Iman Shumpert in your divorce process. In an exclusive statement to The Shade Room, Teyana’s lawyer is clarifying the matter. Her lawyer is explaining the purpose of the motion that mentions Iman’s supposed friend.
For context, the singer’s lawyer requested that a child psychologist be allowed to testify about Iman allegedly organizing adult sleepovers with a friend and her minor child. The expert intends to explore how such actions could affect his daughters and those of Teyana, Junie and Rue.

According to TMZ, who obtained court documents, Teyana allegedly alleged that Iman hosted a friend and her minor daughter while her daughters were in his care. Junie, in particular, reportedly had doubts after allegedly witnessing Iman Shumpert and her unidentified friend sharing a bed.
Junie was reportedly told that the woman and her son were staying with Iman because her house was “destroyed.” The woman and her son also reportedly spent time with Iman, Junie and Rue in a SkyZone.
What Teyana Taylor’s Lawyer Said About New Motion Mentioning Iman Shumpert’s Alleged Love Life
In addition to Junie and Rue reportedly feeling “confused” by their father’s new bedfellow, Junie reportedly felt “extremely uncomfortable.” Children’s feelings and the potential impact of the adult sleepover led Teyana to introduce the new motion.
The ‘Gonna Love You’ singer stated in court documents that she saw the woman’s son during a Facetime check-in with her daughters. Additionally, Taylor stated that she heard the woman’s voice in the background.

As mentioned, The Shade Room spoke with Teyana’s lawyer, and she told us exclusively that the hope of having a child psychologist and her children’s teachers testify is primarily for the children’s well-being.
Her lawyer clarified that Teyana is “I’m not worried or worried about who her ex is dating.” But what’s important to Teyana is “the safety of your children by remaining aware of who is around them and what they are exposed to, and ensuring that neither party is being irresponsible or reckless.”
The lawyer also stated that if the roles were reversed, a mother would be considered “inappropriate” if her son witnessed her sleeping in bed with a male “friend”.
Furthermore, the child psychologist is not the only person Tey and her lawyer are calling to testify. They also intend to have Junie and Rue’s teachers testify about their schooling and education. Meanwhile, a representative will discuss child accommodations during employment negotiations.
As previously reported, Teyana Taylor is seeking permanent primary physical custody, joint legal custody, and child support. Right now, according to TMZ, Iman allegedly takes care of her girls on the first and third weekends of the month and on “a handful of Fridays.”
Teyana claims she intended the divorce to be private, but Iman made it public
Another point that Teyana’s lawyer wanted to make clear: the singer did not make any public statement about the divorce process – other than requesting privacy and clarifying half stories.

After details of the divorce became public in November, Teyana clarified on Instagram that the media “leaked (the information) to the public.” At the time, she clarified that protecting her family was her priority. She also asked for “privacy to resolve” the divorce “in peace”.
But updates about the divorce continued to make headlines. This includes allegations that Iman turned off her home services and practiced negligent child care.
In the exclusive statement obtained by The Shade Room, her lawyer states that she “has not said a word about the recent records”, especially that of her friend.
Furthermore, his lawyer reinforced that the divorce proceedings were never intended for the public eye. The reason they are out there, the lawyer says, is in Iman.
“Teyana did not intend for this situation to become public in hopes of keeping the peace, which is why she used their initials when she quietly filed for divorce. Iman filed a motion using their full legal names 11 months after they managed to keep the lawsuit out of the public eye.”
