Jenn Tran received nothing but love after landing her new role. The 26-year-old medical assistant student new star was named in The Bachelorette during Joey Graziadeiend of the season The Bachelorand the women who were also considered for the job – namely Daisy KentMaria Georgas and Rachel Nance – were nothing but kind in response.
“Oh my God, they were honestly so supportive,” Jenn told ET’s Denny Directo about the other women. “I would like to say that they would have been amazing protagonists too. Honestly, I was rooting for them, but they actually talked to me (at the ‘After the Final Rose’ recording) and gave me a big hug and said, ‘We’re so excited for you’ and ‘You couldn’t be a more perfect person.’ “
“Honestly, just having their support and knowing that they are so excited about this means the world to me,” she added.
Jenn also felt the love from Bachelor Nation, gushing over the announcement: “Everyone was crazy excited in the audience. I think everyone is very excited. I’m really happy to see such a positive response from everyone so far.”
Meanwhile, an emotional response came from Jenn’s young cousin, who was moved to learn that your family member would be the first Asian-American Bachelorette.
“I called my little cousin and she was crying for me. She was so excited about it,” Jenn told ET. “It’s because she’s never seen an Asian love story on TV before.”
After receiving that response, Jenn said, “It really hit me that I’m also inspiring a generation of people to really embrace their culture and who they are and that they have the ability to do whatever they want.
“This means a lot to me,” she added. “Obviously, growing up, I never saw a lot of Asian representation on TV. Whenever you were cast, it was as a side character to fill some kind of stereotype. Obviously, we’re getting a little better, but there’s still room for improvement. Now, being a leader, leading my own love story is absolutely huge. You don’t get to see that every day.”
Her own journey of love is getting ready to begin after things don’t work out between her and Joey. Jenn noticed that overcoming the professional tennis player, who ended up asking the question for Kelsey Anderson“it just took a while.”
“Eventually, I was like, ‘You know what? I think I’m ready to find my person,’” she said. “All my life I have always wanted to be a mother and I have always wanted to find someone to share my life with. prepare.”
