Jeremy Allen White is trying to move from “The Bear” to The Boss, while the actor is in talks to play Bruce Springsteen in an upcoming narrative feature about the making of his 1982 album “Nebraska.” Selection confirmed.
No offers have been finalized, but Scott Cooper is planning to write and direct the film, titled “Ship Me From Nowhere,” which comes from Gotham Group’s Eric Robinson and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein. A24 is also in talks to board the project, and Scott Stuber, in his first major film project since leaving his post as president of Netflix Movies, has joined as producer.
The film is an adaptation of Warren Zanes’ 2023 book “Ship Me From Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska.” It will follow Springsteen and the journey of building his sixth studio album, a dark and simplified collection of songs that marked a new creative trajectory for the “Born to Run” rocker. Springsteen recorded “Nebraska” on four-track cassette tape in his New Jersey bedroom, just a few years before he and the E Street Band released “Born in the USA.”
White is slaying her awards season for “The Bear,” having won a Golden Globe, an Emmy and a SAG Award for playing Carmy Berzatto on the FX kitchen dramedy. He is currently filming seasons 3 and 4 of the series in Chicago. The actor also received approval for his role in the A24 sports drama “The Iron Claw,” in which he played wrestling champion Kerry Von Erich.
The deadline was the first to report the information.
