Isabella Strahan is finding the strength to fight brain cancer in LSU student Greg Brooks Jr., who is battling the exact same type of rare cancer.
On Tuesday, the 19-year-old daughter of Michael Strahan loaded one new vlog for YouTube, in which she gave an update on her second round of chemotherapy and showed off the “Pray for Greg Brooks” t-shirts she and her family members were wearing. The video is titled “Second round of chemo ✅ Pray for Greg Brooks Jr! ❤️.”
Isabella is currently undergoing treatment for medulloblastoma – a tumor that starts in the back of the brain – the same cancer that the 22-year-old Louisiana State University football player is battling. Brooks went under the knife in September to remove part of the tumor located between the cerebellum and brain stem.
In the new video, Isabella says that she is in constant contact with her university colleague and that they support each other as they continue to undergo chemotherapy and treatment.
“We are on the same treatment schedules,” says Isabella in the video. “We stay in touch every day and he’s really inspiring. He’s the one I keep in very close contact with and I can’t wait to meet him in person one day. He’s the sweetest and his family, they helped me.”
“I just finished my second cycle of chemotherapy, he just finished his second cycle. We are getting through this together. Keep fighting,” she continued. “Please pray for Greg because he is so kind.”
According to National Institute of HealthMedulloblastoma is the most common type of malignant brain tumor in children, accounting for approximately 20% of pediatric cases.
In turn, Isabella is receiving care at the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University in North Carolina. The school is where her twin sister, Sophia, currently studies. In another recent vlog postIsabella showed off the preparation leading up to her second round of chemotherapy, which involved going to a Duke basketball game with her twin brother and getting her nails done before treatment.
This video ends with Isabella lying in a hospital bed and exclaiming her excitement that chemotherapy treatment #2 is underway, meaning she was close to the halfway point.
“It’s chemo number two…that means four more to go!” she says to the camera. “That means after this is over, there are only four more months left.”
In a January interview in Good Morning America alongside her father, Isabella revealed that she started showing symptoms at the beginning of October and underwent surgery to remove the mass in the same month, just one day before turning 19.
Isabella first launched the YouTube series to document her cancer treatment journey, which included six weeks of radiation treatment.
