2024 Mercedes G-Class facelift gets a subtle update with cosmetic changes
The iconic Mercedes G-Class, known for its timeless design and off-road prowess, has undergone a subtle but significant facelift. The latest update brings mild-hybrid powertrains across the lineup, along with minor styling tweaks and improvements to its performance.
One of the key updates is under the hood, where all models now feature mild hybrid technology. The base G450d benefits from a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder diesel engine paired with a 48-volt integrated starter generator, resulting in a power increase to 357 HP and 750 Nm of torque. Likewise, the G500 sees improvements with its 3.0-liter, 6-cylinder petrol unit now delivering 436 hp.
There’s a new front bumper and an updated radiator grille, while aerodynamic refinements inspired by the upcoming EQG EV model aim to increase efficiency and reduce interior noise. The integration of a bottom-mounted front camera improves visibility of obstacles, complemented by a new “clear hood” viewing feature.
Inside, the new G gets a new sports steering wheel design, the latest MBUX infotainment system, complete with touchscreen interface. Practical additions like temperature-controlled cup holders and keyless entry elevate the experience even further. Off-road enthusiasts will appreciate the revamped “control center” dashboard layout, providing easier access to essential functions.
Despite these updates, the G-Class maintains its legendary off-road capabilities, boasting impressive ground clearance, wading depth and stability on hills. Even the performance-focused AMG G63 model gets attention, with improvements to power delivery and the introduction of an advanced active suspension system to improve on- and off-road handling.
We can expect Mercedes to introduce the G-Class facelift in India by the end of this year. What do you think of the subtle updates to the SUV? Let us know in the comments section below.
