Shannen Doherty can identify with Kate Middleton.
It’s tragic, but it’s true.
At the end of last week, the actress shared a message on Instagram shortly after Middleton revealed to the world that she has cancer.
This revelation came two months after Middleton underwent abdominal surgery and amid a series of rumors about the reason for the Princess of Wales’s disappearance from public life.

While praising Middleton for sitting calmly and explaining his condition to the world on Friday, Doherty – who is fighting stage IV breast cancer – also did his best to shame Internet trolls, haters, and critics.
“Being a public figure does not mean that the public owns that person. We ALL have the right to experience illness or live privately,” Doherty began.
“The onslaught of conspiracy theories, propriety and morbid curiosity forced this person to explain themselves before accepting this and explaining it to their children.
“I pray this is a teaching moment for all of us to respect privacy or other people regardless of whether we are in the public eye.”
Doherty is right here.
Yes, Middleton has a right to privacy… but Kensington Palace clearly tried to mislead the public about her status, going so far as to force Kate to release a family portrait in honor of Mother’s Day in the UK.
This then forced Middleton to take responsibility for editing the photo after it became clear that the image had been doctored.
In fact, all the Palace had to do once the cancer was discovered (in January) was release a statement of its own confirming this unfortunate truth – and then no one would have said a single negative word.

But anyway. Back to Doherty.
The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum ended her post by sharing a heartfelt message directly to Middleton.
“Princess Kate, I admire your strength during the never-ending attack you endured while facing cancer,” Doherty wrote.
At this point, we all I hope you agree.
On March 22, Middleton shared a more than two-minute video in which she revealed that she is battling cancer and undergoing chemotherapy after weeks of speculation about her health and whereabouts.
“We hope you understand that as a family we now need some time, space and privacy while I finish my treatment,” she said in the footage.
“My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to returning when I can, but for now I must focus on making a full recovery…
“At this moment, I am also thinking about all those whose lives have been affected by cancer. For everyone facing this disease, whatever its form, please do not lose faith or hope. You are not alone.”
