Kate Middleton has long supported cancer patients. Years before Princess of Wales was diagnosed with cancershe made a point of supporting those battling the disease in her work as a member of the royal family.
In 2011 Kate and her husband Prince Williamopened the Oak Center for Children and Young People, a childhood cancer unit at the Royal Marsden in south London.
Afterwards, Kate wrote a thoughtful letter to 9-year-old Fabian Bate, a boy she met during her visit. In her note, Kate praised Fabian’s “strength of character” and assured him that he “couldn’t be in better hands” amid the battle.
The letter meant a lot to Fabian and his family, as they said The night pattern“We were very emotional because she must do many of these things and remembering Fabian is very moving.”
So in 2018, Sunday Express reported that after cutting off seven inches of hair, Kate donated her locks to Little Princess Confidencea charity that makes wigs for children fighting cancer.
“It’s lovely to think that someone, somewhere – probably more than one person – has received a wig containing Princess Kate’s hair,” said Helen Creese, a spokeswoman for the charity, People at the time. “It’s a really lovely and fantastic thought to raise awareness, plus it’s beautiful hair – we all want that hair!”
Two years later, Kate enchanted Mila Sneddon, a young cancer patient, when she wore a pink dress to meet her. The look fulfilled the promise the princess made to Mila during a phone call the previous year, in which Kate told the girl that she would wear a pink dress when they had the opportunity to meet in person.
O, when Kate, who serves as Royal Patron in East Anglia Children’s Hospices, announced his own cancer diagnosis on March 22, she made a point of recognizing all those who also fight against the disease.
“At this time, I am also thinking about all those whose lives have been affected by cancer,” she said in her video announcement. “To everyone facing this illness, in whatever form, please do not lose faith or hope. You are not alone.”
