Emmy Predictions for 2024:
Excellent comedy sequence
Comment: FX’s “The Bear” emerged from a historic inaugural season after winning 10 Emmys, including the coveted award for best comedy series. After breaking the record for most wins in a primary season, surpassing Prime Video’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” which secured eight, people at the network are very optimistic about the upcoming awards show.
But amid the dominance of new Emmy hits like “Schitt’s Creek,” “The Crown,” “Succession” and “Ted Lasso,” no show has ever repeated such a remarkable feat. That leaves the upcoming TV awards season remarkably open, especially with the return of last year’s nominees: the ABC mockumentary “Abbott Elementary” and the Hulu thriller series “Solely Murders in the Building,” both of which have yet to win awards. correctly.
FX is also strategically positioning itself to reintroduce the previously nominated “What We Do in the Shadows” into the conversation and aiming for a long-deserved series mention for the final season of the acclaimed “Fang Reserve.”
Adding to the mix is the sentimental appeal of Max’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” due for completion on April 7th. The show, led by Larry David, received nominations for 10 of its 11 seasons in the mystery comedy category, as well as racking up a total of 47 nominations. But with just two wins: one for directing in 2003 and another for modification in 2012, will the TV Academy fully embrace it this time around?
Let’s also not forget the return of Max’s two-time nominated “Hacks,” which was deemed “better than ever” by those who watched parts of this third season. We totally hope Jean Good and Hannah Einbinder are back in the mix once again.
Several new contenders have entered the fray this year, including Netflix’s “The Gents,” starring Theo James, and Apple’s “Palm Royale,” starring Kristen Wiig, both of which have had help getting them onto the schedule.
Paramount+ is banking on nostalgia with its “Frasier” reboot, hoping the TV Academy’s affection for the original multi-camera series will translate into recognition once again. Additionally, Paramount+ is supporting its Australian comedy “Colin From Accounts,” supported by a devoted fan base.
Traditional broadcast networks are also vying for attention, with CBS beefing up “Ghosts” as its audience grows, NBC aiming high with its family comedy “Prolonged Family” and the rebooted second season of “Night Courtroom.”
Many other revelations are worth considering as voters make peace with their favorite revelations.
