They said they were going to make a whole TV show about Colin Farrell penguin Batman. And, well, they really did.
The first teaser of The Penguin is here and confirms that yes, this is an entire TV show based on Farrell’s scheming mob boss Oswald Cobblepot. In Batmanhe was one of several CC villains making life miserable for Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne. Here, he comes to prominence in his own spinoff, which also stars Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Clancy Brown and Michael Zegen.

There is no official synopsis for the show yet; Max. it simply describes it as “the next chapter in Matt Reeves’ @TheBatman saga.” (Reeves directed and co-wrote O bat Man.)
Between Farrell’s heavy prosthetic makeup, thinning hair, and Italian accent, plus the Gotham City crime world setting and the fact that the Penguin spends the entire teaser mumbling in a chair… it’s hard to miss The Sopranos vibrations from this thing. What is funny; in 25 years, HBO went from The Sopranos for The Penguin. That’s the world, I guess.
The Penguin will debut this fall on Max. A final release date has not yet been announced. And a second film in Batman Reeves franchise is still planned, although it was recently revealed that the film was late for a whole year from next summer to fall 2026. This series will have to tide you over until then, I suppose.
