Princess Eugenia is sharing a health update about his uncle, King Charles IIIin the midst of his battle with cancer.
The 33-year-old princess spoke to reporters at an event benefiting the Elephant Family charity on Thursday, and she was asked about how Charles is doing after news of his cancer diagnosis in February.
“He’s fine,” Eugenie shared with a smile.
The royal – who is the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson – added that Charles “would also be very proud today because the Elephant Family is also very close to his heart.”
The organization – which aims to protect the Asian elephant from extinction in the wild – was founded by From Queen Camilla late brother, Mark Shand.
Carlos revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer on February 5th. Buckingham Palace announced that the diagnosis came after an unrelated procedure for an enlarged prostate. The Palace has not clarified what type of cancer Charles has or at what stage.
In the weeks following the news, the king took a step back from royal duties and spent time at his country home while receiving treatment. In the midst of his treatments, Camilla took on additional responsibilities and royal duties.
At the end of February, Charles took to social media to share a video of some of the letters and well wishes he received since sharing the news of his illness.
“The King had the opportunity to read a wide selection of thousands of get-well cards and letters that have been sent to Buckingham Palace since his diagnosis. 🖋️ Thank you to everyone who wrote,” said the caption.
In the clip, the king also read numerous letters (some funny and others sentimental).
“Following the announcement of the King’s diagnosis, the Buckingham Palace correspondence team received more than 7,000 letters and cards from around the world. The king received a selection in his daily red box of paperwork,” read the caption of the video of the letters read. “Many share their own experiences with cancer. Others offer good wishes and advice for a speedy recovery. To everyone who took the time to write, thank you. As Her Majesty said, ‘such thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement’.”
