Sen. Bernie Sanders recently introduced the “Thirty-Two Hour Work Week Law”… and he explained to us exactly why he thinks it should become the new norm in America.
The federal lawmaker made his case on “TMZ Live” on Wednesday… telling us that working 5 days straight – like we all do these days – leaves people exhausted, less productive and completely stressed and tired. For him, it’s no wonder they arrive at work feeling exhausted.
In contrast, Bernie says that if we give people 3 days off, Corporate America will reap the benefits in the long run – as he argues that worker bees’ productivity and focus will increase when they return to work after a nice little break. .adding that several scientific studies support his claims.
Bernie claims that as the rich get richer – with the middle class stagnating – many ordinary people would love this change… which is why he proposes it become law. If it really has a chance to pass… a different story.
It certainly looks good on paper. Bernie tells us his proposal won’t cut wages or pay workers if it’s implemented – meaning employees will still be paid as if they worked a 5-day work week… even though in reality it’s only 32 hours in instead of 40.
The bill still needs to pass the Republican-controlled House and be approved by 60 votes in the Senate… so, as we said, it will be an uphill battle, for sure.
Either way, Bernie hopes this all sparks a bigger conversation about everyday America and what’s important in life. It’s no surprise that Bernie is taking this stance fighting for the people – it’s his MO, and you can expect more of the same from a new podcast he’s launching this week. That’s it “Bernie: The Podcast” and in the first episode he will be discussing his book.
The title of this… “It’s Okay to Be Angry About Capitalism” – lots of good insights, of course.
Anyway… Bernie has a great discussion here – definitely worth a listen.
