The production version of the Skoda Epiq EV will make its global debut in 2025
Skoda recently lifted the veil on its latest innovation in the EV segment – the Skoda Epiq concept. Positioned as the brand’s entry-level EV, the Epiq comes with a new design language and a minimalist yet futuristic interior. With a global debut scheduled for 2025, with a subsequent launch scheduled for 2026.
Measuring approximately 4.1 meters in length and with a generous wheelbase of around 2,600 mm, the Epiq promises ample space, including a boot capacity of 490 liters. Manufactured in collaboration with Volkswagen, production of this electric SUV will take place in Pamplona, Spain, alongside other models such as Cupra and Volkswagen.
The Epiq’s design features the brand’s new ‘solid modern’ design cues. Notable exterior elements include a stylish grille, distinctive LED daytime running lights, square wheel arches and a sporty rear profile. Instead of the logo, it features SKODA lettering on the hood. Overall, it’s an evolution from the brand’s current design direction and looks sleeker.
Inside, the cabin exudes a minimalist yet functional vibe, with a small instrument panel providing essential information, complemented by a large touchscreen infotainment head unit. The inclusion of recycled materials in the upholstery and interior finishes highlights the brand’s dedication to sustainability.
Under the hood, the Epiq is expected to house a battery ranging from 38 kWh to 56 kWh, offering a range of approximately 400 km on a single charge. It will operate as a front-wheel drive model, powered by a single engine placed on the front axle. Notably, the Epiq will feature Skoda’s mobile digital key, enabling seamless integration with the driver’s smartphone for greater functionality.
One of the Epiq’s standout features is its bi-directional charging capability, effectively transforming the vehicle into a mobile energy storage unit. This innovative technology allows users to channel excess electrical energy back to their homes or other energy alliances, contributing to a more sustainable energy ecosystem.
We can expect Skoda to introduce this electric vehicle in India soon after its global debut. It will be positioned as an entry-level electric SUV in its portfolio. Did you like the design of the Skoda Epiq? Let us know in the comments section below.
