Maggie Kiley will be attached to direct and produce the NBC drama pilot “Grosse Pointe Backyard Society.” Selection completely figured it out.
The pilot was ordered from NBC in February. It comes from writers and executive producers Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs.
Kiley has directed episodes of NBCUniversal shows like “Dr. Dying” for Peacock and “Soiled John: The Betty Broderick Story” for the US community. His other TV directing credits include shows such as “American Horror Story,” “Fairly Little Liars: Unique Sin,” “Riverdale,” “Hold Respiratory” and the upcoming series “American Sports Story.”
She made her directorial debut with “Brightest Star,” starring Chris Lowell and Allison Janney. She also directed the award-winning short film “Some Boys Don’t Go Away,” starring Jesse Eisenberg. She is currently attached to direct Kat Wooden’s next film, “Enigma.”
Kiley is repped by CAA and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
“Grosse Pointe Backyard Society” was initially put into expansion at NBC in 2022, while the community opened a writers room for the series in 2023. The official logline reads: “4 members of a suburban backyard club, all with different styles. of life, they get caught up in murder and mischief as they struggle to make their normal lives flourish.
Bans and Krebs feature writers and executive producers on the pilot. Bans will executive produce products under his Minnesota Logging Company banner along with Casey Kyber and Kiley. Regular TV, where Bans and Krebs are below overall offerings, will produce.
Bans is best known for creating the NBC series “Good Ladies,” starring Christina Hendricks, Retta and Mae Whitman. Krebs first collaborated with Bans on the ABC series “The Household” before also joining her on “Good Ladies.”
