Regina Rei is finally opening up about her son IanHer suicide… saying through tears that she respects his choice to take his own life and addressing her own experience with grief.
The actress/director sat down for an interview on “Good Morning America,” where she delved into Ian’s tragic death in 2022… and addressed her difficult journey afterward.
RK says she thinks of grief as love with nowhere to go and is trying to celebrate her son for everything he is – she even uses the gift because she says Ian is always with her. King adds that she didn’t really have time to just accept Ian’s decision… which she says she understands – because it’s clear to her that he didn’t want to be here anymore.
Regina says her favorite part of herself was being a mother to Ian, and at the end of the day, she simply has to respect the journey, though she also wonders about what she could have done better as a mother.
As we reported… Ian Alexander Jr. – the only son of King and her ex-husband Ian Alexandre Sr. — took his life in January 2022, on his 26th birthday.
At the time, Regina said: “Our family is deeply devastated by the loss of Ian. He is such a bright light who cares so deeply about the happiness of others. you.”
Ian was a regular red carpet guest of Regina’s, even calling King “Super Mom” on the 2019 Golden Globes red carpet and posting a heartfelt tribute to her on her 50th birthday in 2021.
Waiting for your permission to upload Instagram media.
It looks like Regina is taking the next big step in her journey… although Ian is clearly never far from her mind.
