michael douglas is taking on the role of founding father in his upcoming miniseries, Franklin.
The eight-episode Apple TV+ series, which premieres April 12, focuses on Benjamin Franklin’s time in France amid the American Revolution. Franklin and his grandson, William Temple Franklin (played by A peaceful place Noah Jupe), traveled to France to ask for the country’s support in the war against Great Britain.
“Without your help,” the Douglas founder warns in the trailer, “America will end before it begins.”
And although we obviously know the outcome of the bitter war for independence, Franklin takes a closer look at the most intimate inner workings of Franklin’s campaign – including his clandestine intrigues and well-documented affairs.
“This is a dangerous game,” Franklin is warned in the clip, to which he responds, “Then it’s exactly the kind of game I like.”
