November 4, 2023: A powerful earthquake of magnitude 6.4 struck Nepal on Friday night, with tremors felt across northern India, including the Delhi-NCR region. The epicenter of the earthquake was located in the Lamidanda area in Nepal’s Jajarkot district, at a depth of 10 km.
The earthquake struck at around 11:30 pm IST, and sent people rushing out of their homes in panic. Strong tremors were felt in Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Lucknow, Kanpur, Chandigarh, and other parts of northern India.
There have been no reports of any major damage or casualties so far. However, authorities have advised people to stay alert and avoid damaged buildings.

The National Center for Seismology (NCS) has said that the earthquake is likely to have been caused by a thrust fault between the Indian Plate and the Eurasian Plate. Nepal is located in a seismically active zone, and has experienced several major earthquakes in the past.
